Sea
squirts, also known as tunicates, are normally in season from April to June
every year, but developed storage technology has enabled restaurants to serve
dishes using them throughout the entire year.

of rice, sesame oil, chopped seaweed flakes and sea squirts is known to also be
effective for healing colds and coughs.

codfishes account for a large portion of the amount of codfishes caught
nationally. The large, juicy meat of Geoje codfishes is what earned itself the
nickname, noble of the sea.

soup is a mild soup that highlights the tender meat of codfish, and with rice
and kimchi added on the side, winter chills will melt away in no time.

There are
many ways to cook oysters, but in Geoje, they taste best when grilled like
barbeque.

Dubbed the “milk of the sea,” oysters are known
to be effective for both men and women, as it revitalizes one’s body and clears
the skin.
In Geoje, oysters are usually steamed in a large
caldron made of cast iron, and customers wearing gloves take off the shells and
eat them with hot pepper paste sauce.

get to Geoje
It normally takes five hours to get to
Geoje, when starting from Seoul or anywhere in the Gyeonggi Province.
At the Seoul Nambu Terminal in Seocho District,
Seoul, rides to Geoje and nearby cities like Goseong, Namhae and Jinju are
provided. There’s also a ride to Geoje from the Gimhae International Airport.
From the Seoul Nambu Terminal to Geoje, bus
fares are 34,200 won for adults and 17,100 won for children, when using premium
bus services; ordinary bus rides cost 23,000 won for adults and 11,500 won for
children.
