Beef rice soup in Uiryeong dates back 40 years, and now, restaurants specializing in the dish are spread all over the southern county. Near the entrance of each restaurant, you'll find a large iron caldron boiling soup all throughout the day.
Whereas most other restaurants may brew beef bones in hot water for the soup, Uiryeong eateries usually make soup out of pure beef, which is why it doesn't taste so greasy.
