Gyeongnam Culture Tour: Clayarch Gimhae Museum

The name "Clayarch" is a compound word of clay and 'arch,' which is an abbreviation of "architecture." Clayarch aims to rediscover the relationship between ceramics and architecture-as a new direction for ceramic art.

The museum of roughly 9,000 meter square feet has 5,036 fired paintings, ceramic architecture installation works, illustrations, drawings, photos and roof tiles.

There are many programs available to experience with clay and various art forms.

There are about 5,000 fired paintings hung on the outside walls of the exhibition hall and a huge glass dome covers the ceiling, making a unique round building. A special exhibition hall and archive, image room, and galley shop are situated on the first floor and on the second floor is a planned exhibition hall.

Current exhibition is titled "Making Life" which is being exhibited until February 14th.

Making Life is an exhibition intended to allow those who are living in a highly industrialized capitalistic society to recover handwork that has been ousted from everyday life.
