A nutritious taste of Hamyang, Gyeongnam

Located at the foot of Mt. Jiri, Hamyang has long been known as the home of late classical scholars. Now, its outrageous natural scenery and traditional dishes have risen to the county's charm factors.


Some of the main dishes that Hamyang has to offer are the grilled black pork, wild herbs and vegetables full course meal and lotus leaf-inspired cuisine.

#Black pig


Pigs in Hamyang are raised in clearzones, where they grow up with less moisture content and fat. Their meat is rich in vitamin B and effective for fatigue recovery, detoxification and skin care.

Although black pig is served in many different ways, barbeque is the most popular among tourists. The juicy meat seasoned with salt just melts as you stick a piece into your mouth.

Seasoned-roasted black pork is ripened for half a day with various ingredients like red pepper paste and onion. The sweet-soury taste is truly addictive.

#Lotus leaf rice


Out of all the popular lotus leaf-inspired dishes in Hamyang, lotus leaf rice is certainly highlighted as the best.

In a lotus leaf rice meal, rice is mixed with various grains, and then all wrapped in a lotus leaf to keep the fillings moist and fresh. Note that bacon or duck meat make the perfect side dishes, too.
