At Korea's most romantic road -- the 10-ri Cherry Blossom Road in Hadong County, Gyeongnam -- couples stroll through the spring trees hand in hand, as they get showered by the flower petals jealous of their passionate love.

<The 10-ri Cherry Blossom Road was chosen as Korea's most beautiful road.>

The Route 19 that runs along the Seomjin River and leads to Hadong, Gyeongnam, is traffic-jammed every April with throngs of visitors out to view the spring flowers. Some drivers pull over midway for a selfie with the cherry blossoms bloomed along the sides.

Stretching about 5km from the Ssanggyesa Temple to the Hwagae Traditional Market, the 10-ri Cherry Blossom Road is saturated with hundreds of cherry blossom trees 50 to 70 years old.

Tree-lined streets, glittering in pink under the golden rays of sunlight, create a cherry blossom tunnel that romantically covers the entire sky.

Slowly walk along the road, and you will find one path leading up, and another, down. The upper road leads to the hiking trail while the lower one leads to the riverside. Both paths eventually meet again, so no need to agonize about your choice.

But if you want to see the entire 10-ri Cherry Blossom Road in a single glace, try the upper road, where you can see the cherry blossoms near the Ssanggyesa Temple and the Wild Tea Plant Field.

<Every spring, this place turns into a cherry blossom tunnel.>

If you grow hungry after a long walk down the road, try king crabs or corbiculas at a restaurant nearby. King crabs are served either raw or in a stew. When served in a stew, king crabs are seasoned with soybean paste and soy sauce, and then later added with various vegetables.

When served raw, king crabs are lightly boiled, and then ripened for a week with soy sauce. The dish goes excellent with a bowl of rice.

<Hadong is famous for dishes inspired by king crabs and corbiculas.>

Try a bite of corbicula either raw or in a stew, in a country where they are called natural tonic. Corbiculas are known to be effective for liver trouble or jaundice. Corbicula stew, in particular, are best to relieve hangovers.

In order to reach Hadong by car, ride along the Gyeongbu Express Way, then the Daejeon-Tongyeong Express Way, and lastly the Namhae Express Way. It takes about four hours.

If you're traveling my mass transit, ride an intercity bus at a terminal nearby and head to the Hadong Bus Terminal. From there, ride a city bus to Hwagae. For more information, call the Hadong Bus Terminal at +82-55-883-2663
