▶ Goseong beef melts in your mouth with the touch of the tongue
Korean beef is the most expensive meat you'll find in a butcher's shop because the exquisite texture is far beyond comparison to those imported from overseas markets. Goseong, in particular, is one of the key locations in Korea renowned to produce the finest beef, as it has the perfect environmental features for cattle: fertile lands, warm temperature and clear, blue skies, among others.
Here are some practical tips for grilling beef: First, grill on charcoal; shortly cook with high heat; and flip only once so that each side of the meat is heated only one time.
Locals usually say that the best "hanwu," or Korean beef, is that of which melts in your mouth. The grilled pieces of meat go well with a bit of sauce and sesame oil.
<Pike eels served in Goseong is one of Gyeongnam's 51 best dishes.>
▶ Raw pike eels, a type of stamina food
If you're more of a seafood lover, you're bound to find more joy in trying the grilled pike eels.
Pike eels are normally served raw in Goseong, and diners eat them with hot pepper paste or wasabi mixed with soy sauce. Those who aren't used to eating raw fish can wrap the sliced bites with vegetables like lettuce.
