After a sweaty hike up Mount Hwangmae (1,108m), the field of royal azaleas, the size of 60 soccer fields, is mind-blowing enough to cool off the heat. As the flowers sway along the gentle spring wind, you'll think you've fallen in a sea of royal azaleas.
The field was initially a grazing land for cows, up until they ate all the plants except for royal azaleas that have a toxic substance. Maybe the cows thought they were too captivating to chew up?

There are two ways to hike up Mount Hwangmae: a single-day course and an overnight course. If you're leaving for a single day, take your car with you and drive on up, especially when you're out with your family like the youngest or eldest members.
