[Sancheong, Gyeongnam] Medical Herb Festival 2015

The 15th Sancheong Medical Herb Festival filled with aromatic herbs and autumn scents will be held in Sancheong for 8 days from May 1~May 10 this year. It will be a great opportunity to visit the town of Sancheong and get to know the world of aromas and the great herbs that are available. 

Sancheong is the home of Mount Jirisan and the "Donguibogam" which is a prestigious Korean traditional medicine book made by Heo Jun. The country's master physician Heo Jun sacrified his life for medical practice here during the Josun Dynasty in Korea. 

The medicinal herbs that grow around Mount Jirisan is very well-known for its effects and the excellence in quality they have. This year's slogan will be to "Follow the historical spirits of Donguibogan and the wonderful aroma of Sancheong's medicinal Herb", this festival plans to enhance the country’s status by promoting Sancheong’s traditional medicine and herbs and its wonderful geographical historical background.

Highlights of this festival includes the opening ceremony, free medical advice and services at Hyeminseo and Medicina herb picking at Jeonggwangdeul field. In additon there will be a variety of more hands on activities, exhibitions and traditional performances.
