Dongpirang is a small village located in Tongyeong, South Gyeongsang Province.
It is accesible by car and bus through the world's deepest immersed roadway tunnel that connects Busan to Geoje Island. This village was once on the verge of being destroyed due to redevelopment plans but a group of locals along with the help of university art majors and various campaigns helped save the village by painting and decorating the walls, fences, stairs in a very artistic way. "Dongpirang" has its meaning of east and the dialect used by people of Tongyeong during the Japanese colonial times.
Described as a hidden treasure of South Korea. A walk through this road you may feel like the fairytale-like picture paintings are somewhat whispering to you.
