There are many ways to reach Jinju, but for your safe and comfortable trip, book an express bus ticket.

If you've yet drawn up your itinerary and don't know where to start, head straight to Jinjuseong Fortress, a lively battle field historically linked to the Japanese invasion in 1592.

There are three entrances at the castle, and you can pass through whichever one. But for an impeccable tour, walk through the door at the very right and look around Jinju National Museum first. From there on, you can meet the fortress and Chokseongnu Pavilion.

Jinju National Museum was founded to become Korea's first historic museum solely concentrated on the Imjin War (1592-98). The museum is divided into several zones by theme and era, each filled with artifacts and documentaries of the bloody battle. In the darkroom, you will find earthen potteries, ceramics, calligraphic works and craft works, all that guide you through Korea's rich history and culture. 

After a tour around the museum, walk along the fortress and gaze upon Nam River, home to the Namgang Yudeung Festival held every October.

Chokseongnu Pavilion is one of Korea's three main pavilions, characterized by a tall cliff soaring up from the grand Nam River. Catch the picturesque sunset and nightscape from Euiam, a rock located below the pavilion, or from a bank across the river. 

Euiam is an emotionally charged historical hot spot where a Korean geisha sacrificed her life during the Imjin War of Japanese invasions (1592-98). Visitors can hop onto the rock as well, but watch your step for the currents are rapid. From here, you can see the elegant roof curves of Chokseongnu Pavilion, matched with a clear blue sky.

After a stroll around Jinju, time for dinner! Jinju's specialty is bibimbap and naengmyeon (cold noodles). Bibimbap is originated from a dish made by leftovers from ancestral rites, all mixed together in a single bowl. The localized dish in Jinju is topped with raw meat, so don't miss out on this special opportunity!

Naengmyeon in Jinju is made by buckwheat and kimchi, topped with pork or meat. They soy sauce broth and ice cubes added at the very end spice up the coolness of this summer dish, also enjoyed during winter. If you're not up for cold noodles, freshwater fish stew is another treat you can relish.

The shoulder-high fences, wild flowers blossomed in between and enjoyable wall paintings all contribute to creating a pleasant Korean vibe in a village renowned to be the country's most stunning.

Hwangsan Village is divided into two sectors by a stream. On one side is a village with red clay fences, and on the other is one with witty murals. At the entrance of the village, a 600-year-old gargantuan tree will greet you with grandeur.

The village once filled with over 200 houses now merely holds 20. The fences here are made out of natural rocks and red clay, which materials trigger an earthy smell. Bulky natural rocks are lined in two rows, topped with a row of fist-sized rocks and red clay. 

It may look a bit dull, but the village's red clay fences highlight the pitch-black roof tiles of the houses and show a romantic side of traditional Korea that you can find nowhere else. The fences here were in fact designated as a cultural property of preservation.

The houses' front gates are all open in Hwangsan Village, a typical scene you can find in the Korean countrysides. 

Follow the rock fences, and you will see artistic murals of the village's natural landscape and history drawn by professional artists from the Korean Fine Arts Association in 2011. The bull painting and turtle rock particularly stand out from the bunch.

The wall paintings are stellar, but what's even more eye-catching are the murals made out of marble and tiles. Snap a shot in front of these walls of 3-D artistry! Some houses even topped the fences with sculptures, so make sure to keep your eyes wide open on every corner of your trip.

In Yangsan, Gyeongnam, Eden Valley Resort is crowded all throughout the year with frantic tourists out for golf, horse riding and a splash in the water park.

The ski grounds are especially bustling during winter. Strangely enough, Eden Valley Resort is located in the southern area, unlike others which are up in the colder regions.

The resort stands at 800m above sea level with the average temperature maintained at 5 degrees Celsius below zero, so no worries for ice-melting.

You can enjoy a day's rest at the Eden Valley ski ground, but we recommend lodging a couple of days to fully enjoy the fun. Weekend reservations are normally packed, so make sure you call in advance!

After you've made your reservation, head on to the resort. No need to carry around your heavy ski equipment because the resort is equipped with rental service. You can also find rental shops near the resort, where they additionally offer pick-up service, too.



If you're bound to use the rental service within the resort, purchase a rental ticket at the booth. Write down your identification information on the back of your ticket and submit it with your ID card. Foreigners can submit their passports or certificate of alien registration. Upo Wetlands was chosen as one of the top 50 places tourists must visit in Korea by CNN Go. Formed in an ancient time when the Korean Peninsula first came into the world, Upo Wetland is especially glamorous in the transitional stage between autumn and winter. 

We took a road trip to Changnyeong, Gyeongnam for a view of nature's masterpiece.

Dare to imagine the size of Upo Wetlands: 210 soccer fields. In the 1 to 2 meter-deep water, 1,000 types of organisms -- including 10 percent of all Korean plants -- are held shelter. The natural self-purifying characteristic keeps the waters clean all year long.  

Migratory birds flock to the wetlands during seasonal transition periods. The exquisitely preserved nature and abundant natural resources are a full hotel-package to the bird-travelers. In this time around, you can also witness rare species like kestrels and swans.

Migratory birds tease each other off in the silver grass field as if they are frolicking in a playground. The wetland rimmed by reeds and lotuses is a scene you'd never want to miss. 

A tour around the wetland is best to use the 14km-long hiking trail which takes about 4 hours to finish. Walk the mud road barefoot, and feel the nature tickling beneath your toes.

Tired of walking? Borrow a bike near the Upo Wetlands Ecological Center, where everyone regardless of sex and age can use the service. 

Bike trails are lined right beside walking trails, so careful not to bump into pedestrians during your ride. There are also some sections that limit bike entry, so be aware. 

You will catch a glimpse of a tall observatory on your walk down the hiking trail. The one and only spot you can see an open view of Upo Wetlands will have you dazzled by nature's beauty in its purest form.

"The lighthouse and islands peeking out of the sea create a picturesque scene. The ocean saturated in shades of red adds warmth to this magnificent sunset."

The Korean Peninsula is filled with venues that boast stunning scenery. There are approximately 400 islands in Gyeongnam alone, which fact suggests that the province is an utterly exotic region. We made a special road trip to Sacheon, Gyeongnam, to capture the "Silan Sunset" view. In winter when the sky can't be any clearer, it seemed like the perfect choice.

For that perfect sunset view in Korea, first visit Sacheon. You can take mass transportation, a ship or a bus.

Head straight to Silan Village once you arrive in Sacheon. It is easy to spot when you follow the signpost between Sacheon Bridge and Samcheonpo Bridge.

The moment you arrive at the village, you will find lines of trees erected from the sea; it is a scene of Jukbangryeom, a type of Sacheon's very own fishery. Jukbangryeom is a primitive fishing method to catch fish with a fan-shaped bamboo net.

Scenery of Jukbangryeom reaches its highlight during sunset. Fishermen work in rhythm as the glowing sun slithers away, exhaling its last breath of a breathtaking velvet sky. Bits of islands peeking out from the waters as well as the lighthouse standing with grandeur in the middle of the sea add class to this unforgettable view.

The world comes to a halt as the sun tiptoes beneath the horizon and flames of gold bursts across the velvet sky. The winter breeze is no longer chilly with such visual warmth embracing its frozen edges.

Tourists are in a hurry to capture the epic moment as they take out their cameras. Every spot makes a beautiful cut, but for the perfect shot, head to Samcheonpo Bridge Park, which you can easily find by following the signpost, "The Street of Beautiful Sunset."

Now that the sun is set, time for some late-night munching! How about a taste of fresh raw fish from nearby Samcheonpo Fish Market? Choose a fish from a fish tank, and the chef will chop it into edible pieces right at the spot. Pay an extra fee to grab a seat nearby, and there you have your own personally-picked raw fish dinner table!

A windmill is surrounded by waves of weeds at Hill of the Wind, with visitors trying to capture the invisible yet tangible natural force that is swaying through their legs.

Hill of the Wind was chosen as one of the 100 outrageously beautiful spots in Korea. The epic scenery was recognized by numerous TV dramas and entertainment shows, for many of them were filmed there.  

At the entrance that leads to the hill is a photo of the hill's natural landscape; what lies behind that is a more awe-arousing view. 

The fishing village seen below creates an illusion that you are in the Mediterranean Sea. The orange roofs and emerald-green ocean are only a few of the amusing features.

Walk pass the hill and up the wooden staircase hiking trail, and soon you will realize why it is Hill of the Wind. Violent gusts of wind will sweep you off your feet. 

Cameras mounted on tripods will rarely play their roles as the strong currents of wind knock them down to the ground. Tourists posing for the camera are more hectic trying to neaten their hair and wardrobe.

Natural circumstances will certainly not ruin the chance to take a photo, though. The fairy tale-like windmill, flowy grass, cloudless sky and shimmery blue ocean is a scene you'd want to capture for life.
