Korea has four distinctive seasons, each filled with exciting leisure activities. In autumn, try mountain climbing!
Mountains in Korea are colored in elegant shades of red, yellow and orange at this time of year, which is also why we call it the peak time of hiking. The Yeongnam Alps in Miryang, Gyeongnam not only guarantees such exuberant scenery, but also an open view of shimmery silver grass.

Silver grass looks somewhat like reed, but the two are actually different from each other. Silver grass grows up to 1.5 m in humid areas, sharpens toward the end and has a soft flower at the tip.
The seed of a silver grass flies far away on the wings of the wind, and later sprouts in early spring. It forms the stem all through autumn, and blooms into a flower by winter. The stem dies in snowy winter, but the roots live strong enough to sprout again the following spring.

Come visit the Yeongnam Alps, where you can see the silver grass gently swaying in the autumn breeze. These eastern mountains of Gyeongnam stand above 1000 m, and are just as majestic as the authentic Alps in Europe.
The ocean of silver grass glitters crystal-clear during the day time as flashes rich gold during the evening.

Walk by the silver grass plains and you will soon meet a waterfall. On one side, it looks eccentric with all of its layers; another side resembles a ferocious dragon. After a long walk up the mountain, this natural landscape will truly be a refreshing reward.

There are numerous hiking trails at the Yeongnam Alps (1,241 m), enjoyable for everyone from beginners to intermediate and advanced. The hiking course can take as short as two hours and as long as six hours.

There are two ways to arrive at the Yeongnam Alps - by bus and by train. If riding the bus, alight at Miryang Bus Terminal and take another shuttle bus that reaches the entrance of the mountains. When riding the train, alight at Samnagjin Station and take a shuttle bus from there.
