Ever imagined waking up one day to find yourself as a captive?

It is a horrible thought, indeed. One day of such experience would surely put the rest of your life more in peace.

Learn more about the Korean War (1950-53) which brought the Peninsula split in two. Historic Park of Geoje, P.O.W. Camp provides a new angle on more deeply grasping the event that changed Korea's very own fate. 

Here in the museum, you will find various remains of the prisoners as well as experience programs. Near the entrance, there is a bridge called comp62ound, which real-life prisoners actually crossed long ago.

Captives are lined in front of the entrance, and guards are eyeing every move you make right above you in the checkpoint. Historic Park of Geoje, P.O.W. Camp vividly captures the livelihood of then prisoners from the Korean War. Visitors can get a glimpse of the gruesome lives by walking through the various experience halls. Outside, there are also barracks and a field hospital. 

The tank-shaped building, Diorama, is filled with an endless line of visitors eager to see a miniature scene of the war. 

Escapees helplessly hanging on bombarded bridges and dummies lying in barracks soaked in blood are a few scenes that portray the tragedy of the Korean War.

The 1950 Experience Hall is most popular among children, equipped with a mirror maze and an artillery range. 

The theme of the maze is a prisoner's voyage for freedom; users must complete five missions to reach the end. At the end of the maze are video footage by then-war correspondents. Visitors can experience various forms of gunnery at the artillery range such as target shooting and clay shooting.

Historic Park of Geoje, P.O.W. Camp contains buildings from the actual concentration camp. A grayish building bombarded by fire shells are surrounded by barracks, hospitals and restaurants. Tanks and helicopters are also posed for tourists. 

Korea is the lastly-remaining divided country in the world. Though the past is heartbreaking, a stroll through the historic park will remind you that peace is to be preserved forever more.
